우리의 눈과 귀를 활짝 열고 뜨거운 마음으로 힘껏 손잡고 소리치게 했던 김학순.

김학순 공개증언 이후 제2, 제3의 김학순이 등장했다. 김학순들은 무기력한 피해자에 머물러 있지 않았다. 같은 일을 미래세대가 겪어서는 안 된다는 결연한 의지는 다른 전시성폭력 피해자들을 돕는 ‘나비기금’이 되어 날아올랐고, 평화의 소녀상은 전시 성폭력을 알리고 여성인권의 메시지를 담은 상징물로 세계 곳곳에 굳건히 세워지고 있다.

그러나 일본군성노예제 피해생존자들의 명예회복은 지연되고 있다. 일본 정부는 여전히 조직적 범죄사실을 부인하고 피해자를 모욕하며, 역사부정세력은 피해자의 명예뿐만 아니라 운동의 진정성마저 훼손하고 있다. 안타깝게도 무력분쟁과 갈등은 세계 곳곳에 끊이지 않고 있으며, 여성과 아동, 선량한 시민들에 대한 폭력도 근절되지 않고 있다. 진실, 정의, 배상, 재발방지라는 피해자들의 권리는 보장되지 않고 있으며, 가해자 불처벌 관행도 남아있다. 가장 기본적인 일상의 안전조차 보장받지 못하는 사람들이 우리 주변에 수없이 존재한다.

그럼에도 김학순의 목소리, 김학순의 용기, 김학순의 염원을 기억하는 우리는 전쟁 없는 평화로운 세상, 소수자와 약자의 권리가 무시되지 않는 세상, 여성인권이 존중받는 세상을 위해 계속 연대하고 행동할 것이다. 때로는 바위처럼 굳건하게 버티고 때로는 나비처럼 자유롭게 날아오를 것이다.

No one tried to see with their eyes open, listened, opened their hearts, nor willingly gave their hands, but Kim Hak-soon opened our eyes and ears, warmed up our hearts, held our hands and shouted with all her might.

Ever since Kim’s public testimony, other Kims have appeared. They did not remain just as victims any longer. The will to prevent future generations from the same suffering soared high as “Butterfly Fund” to support wartime sexual violence victims. Statues of Peace are being erected as a symbol of women’s rights against wartime sexual violence.

The dignity of Japanese military sexual slavery victim-survivors, however, has not been recovered yet. Japanese government is still denying its systemic crime and insulting victims, and historical denialists undermine the victims’ dignity and the sincerity of the movement. Unfortunately, armed conflicts continue throughout the world, and violence against women, children and innocent citizens are still perpetuated. The victims’ rights to truth, justice, reparation, and prevention of recurrence are not guaranteed, but perpetrators remain unpunished.

Remembering Kim Hak-soon's voice, courage, and aspiration, we will continue our solidarity for a peaceful world without war, a world where the rights of the minoritized and the vulnerable are not ignored, and a world that respects women’s rights.

私たちの目と耳を大きく開いてくれ、熱い想いで力強く手を取りあって声を上げるよう突き 動かしてくれた金学順。

金学順の公開証言以降、第2、第3の「金学順」が登場した。未来世代に同じ経験をさせて はならないと訴えた決然とした意志は、他の戦時性暴力被害者をサポートする「ナビ基金 」となって羽ばたき、「平和の少女像」は戦時性暴力の事実を知らせ女性人権を訴えるモニ ュメントとして世界各地に広がっている。

だが、日本軍性奴隷制の被害生存者の名誉回復は未だに実現していない。日本政府は依然 として組織的犯罪の事実を否定して被害者を侮辱し、歴史否定勢力は被害者の名誉だけ でなく、運動の真正性をも傷つけている。真実、正義、賠償、再発防止という被害者の権利 は保障されておらず、加害者不処罰の慣行も残されたままである。

それでも、金学順の声、金学順の勇気、金学順の念願を記憶する私たちは、戦争のない平 和な世界、少数者や弱者の権利がないがしろにされない世界、女性の人権が尊重される世 界に向けて連帯し、行動しつづける。ときには岩のようにしっかりと構え、ときには蝶のよ うに自由に舞い上がる私たちでありたい。
